Closet Revitalization

Well I have been away for a little while but I haven't been doing nothing. One thing I have been working on is organizing my closets. I love looking at other peoples organization pictures so that is why I am sharing mine. My hall closet was a disaster I didn't take a before picture so you will just have to trust me. Here is a picture of the new and improved closet:
The pictures are not the greatest but I goal is to have anyone that opens the closet to clearly know where everything is. My parents often stay over night and this is where extra blankets, pillows, toiletries are stored. I would like guests to feel comfortable getting what they need, as well as have my husband clearly see where everything is so he doesn't have to ask me continually, yay! I think that I need to have labels perhaps another project in the future.

I have been doing other things but I will post about them later.

Out the Door List

Mornings can be so hectic sometimes and it seems like whenever I get to school, work, or wherever I have forgotten something. To hopefully lessen this prevalent problem I made a list of everything that I needed on a regular basis, and also things I needed to do before I leave the house such as lock the doors, turn everything off, etc. After the list was done I created a table in my word processing program, entered in my list, printed it off, laminated it, and put it buy my door. I have had this here for over a month and it has helped a lot. I love when things work out just how you planned! Not to mention this idea is simple and effective.

Kitchen Orgnaization/ Tupperware

The basis for this idea originally came from a book I read by Kathy Peel called The Family Managers Everyday Survival Guide she suggested numbering Tupperware so that it is easy to get the container and lids together. I used this idea and took it up a notch. Before numbering the Tupperware get it all out and place the lids on top of the containers they belong to. Then organize them into similar groups, for instance smallest to largest or similar shapes. If you do the smallest to largest line them up accordingly and write the numbers on the lid and container. If your doing shapes group shapes together, then line up that group of shapes from biggest to smallest, and then write the numbers.

The next step really shows how nuts I am. I wrote a description of each Tupperware next to the number, for example: square, red, 3cups. Then if I am ever missing a number I know which one it is.
Finally, I grouped all the shapes together and enjoyed a very organized Tupperware cupboard.

Kitchen Organization/ Under the Sink

I am kind of liking the series of post thing, and since I am working on organizing my kitchen I am going to this in a series or posts also.

This is one of those places I get so frustrated with because it is this big cupboard yet it is hard to store things in there, darn water pipes who needs water anyway. Well I decided to work with the pipes and see what I could come up with.

This would be what I would like to try one day, isn't it ingenious, until then I am going to make do with what I have.

This is my before, you can see that there was some organization here, but it really was not working out.

This is my after, I got a little bit creative in my organization. Notice that the shelf is made out of cardboard, I a strawberry container to store my sponges (it was the perfect size and I like that it had holes so they could air out in between uses), and a Kleenex container for all of my grocery bags. I can't take credit for the Kleenex box idea, I actually saw that somewhere a while back and decided to try it. I love it not only is the box free but it is easy to pull out the bags when you need them.
